Saturday was The Great VISIT FLORIDA Beach Walk. I woke up at o’dark-thirty to walk my mile (or two) of beach, snap a few photos and share them with the world to show the beaches of Charlotte Harbor & the Gulf Islands are fabulous and oil-free.
Jon Benderik, Executive Director of the Englewood-Cape Haze Chamber of Commerce, was the Charlotte County host for this event and he ensured every one of the 12 miles of beach had a walker. He even greeted walkers at the chamber office Saturday beginning at 7 a.m. Many were thankful for the hot coffee he had waiting to warm them up from the cold front that moved in.
Walkers who didn’t send their photos via their phone or didn’t have immediate Internet access, checked back in with the Englewood-Cape Haze Chamber and Jon ensured the images were uploaded by the 11 a.m. cutoff. Jon worked with Volunteer Florida and VISIT FLORIDA and the local community to pull this off so kudos to Jon for making The Great VISIT FLORIDA Beach Walk happen for Charlotte Harbor & the Gulf Islands!
You can see how the other Charlotte County beaches looked on Nov. 6 (look for mile markers 321 through 334) as well as see photos from other Florida beaches at www.visitfloridabeachwalk.com. Vote for your favorite photo and be entered into a drawing to win a new Mazda Miata MX-5 convertible and a $5,000 gift card.
So what’s your favorite beach in Charlotte Harbor & the Gulf Islands?
