We were elated to read results of the 2010 America’s Favorite Farmers Market contest coordinated by American Farmland Trust because the Downtown Punta Gorda Farmers Market was voted as the favorite market in Florida! It was also voted in the top 20 for small farmers markets in the United States. Very cool!
The Downtown Punta Gorda Farmers Market is held each Saturday 8 a.m. to noon (’til 1 p.m. Oct. – May), rain or shine on Taylor Street in front of the Old Historic Courthouse and into the Hector House Park and parking lot. Offers a full array of foods with some art-related vendors. Produce is varied including organic, some from small local farms and regular produce. Other food includes fresh pasta, seafood, meats, cheeses, baked goods, soups to go, citrus, jams and jellies, dried fruits and nuts, fresh cut flowers, plants and entertainment. The market allows folks to buy fresher and cheaper.
Again, congratulations to the Downtown Punta Gorda Farmers Market on its success.
